Hearts-April Obsessions

Depending on your point of view, April conjures up feelings of either delight or disdain. Optimists might associate the month with pleasant spring breezes and a number of celebrations (Easter, Passover, and Earth Day), but for those of you with a glass-half-empty mentality, rainy weather and Tax Day might be the only things that come to mind this time of year. Here at Who What Wear, we're definitely advocates of the former approach and think April gives us plenty of reasons to rejoice! If you still need convincing, today's edition of WWW Hearts will certainly change your mind. From a stylish tome to a pretty set of nail polishes, we've rounded up our favourite of-the-moment products that will put a smile on the faces of positive thinkers and pessimists alike.

Washborn Varsity Jacket ($168)
Think varsity jackets are only relegated to high school jocks? Think again! As one chic civilian proved, the topper is actually a supremely stylish option you can wear well beyond your teenage years. The outerwear piece was huge for fall and continues to be cool for spring; in fact, we noted scads of them at Paris Fashion Week! To get this on-point athletic-inspired look, we recommend buying Washborn's Varsity Jacket, as the combination of denim and sporty stripes makes it a seriously cool find.

Herb Ritts: L.A. Style by Paul Martineau ($38)
We never tire of fashionable books, especially when they're as awe-inspiring as Herb Ritts: LA Style! The tome includes tons of the legendary LA-based photographer's most memorable shots, including a slew of Vogue and Vanity Fair covers, as well as previously unpublished photos and two compelling essays. Plus, if you can't get enough of his wonderful work, you'll be pleased to learn that an exhibition of the same name will be on view at The Getty Center beginning April 3rd, the Cincinnati Art Museum starting October 6th, and at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Florida on March 1st, 2013.

New York City Ballet Collection by OPI ($8.50 each)
We clearly adore chic pastel outfits and beauty products right now, so it comes as no surprise that we were immediately smitten with OPI's new collection of pale polishes. Inspired by the famous New York City Ballet, the six subtle hues range from a lovely lilac tint to a silver sparkly shade. We'll have one of each, please!

giejo Striped Butterfly Bandeau ($96) and Mixed Highwaist Bikini ($88)
If the thought of donning an itsy-bitsy bikini makes you cringe, we think we've found a solution for you, dear readers! This bathing suit by giejo is the perfect compromise, as the high-waisted bottoms provide a bit of extra coverage while simultaneously giving off a stylish retro vibe. Plus, the charming and totally unique mix of patterns makes it an utterly irresistible option!

Blunderbuss by Jack White ($11)
If you were bummed to hear that the duo behind The White Stripes parted ways last year, allow us to offer some consolation: Jack White, the band's talented singer/songwriter/guitarist, is releasing his very first solo album on April 24th. Since we already adore the single "Love Interruption," we have a hunch his tunes will be on heavy rotation in our offices!

Phylia de M. Hair Kit ($130)
Thanks to daily subjection from blow dryers and straightening irons, our hair regularly takes a beating, inevitably leading to damaged strands and brittle ends. Thankfully, Kazu Namise and Kidada Jones, the geniuses behind Phylia de M., came up with a tress-perfecting line of products that promise to restore the shiny hair you once had. The creators sought to provide a way to repair hair naturally and effectively, and we think they have definitely succeeded! We'll be swiping up the Clean Shampoo ($35), Condition Cream ($40), and Connect Treatment ($60), which work together to restore keratin and encourage cell renewal with organic ingredients like chamomile, orange blossom, and aloe.--Erin Fitzpatrick
