What Fashion Girls Will Never Wear for Going Out
We all have a different sense of style when it comes to going-out dressing. In fact, more often than not, your specific region will affect how you dress for parties or a night at the bar. So when it comes to fashion people specifically, the same applies—there are specific items this group tends to favour, but also pieces they will never wear. Below, we're highlighting the four items the fashion crowd tries to avoid when dressing for a night out, according to the six experts we tapped from within the industry.

"Choice of footwear is a very personal thing, but I find that people wear flip-flops at the most inappropriate times. In my opinion, flip-flops are only appropriate at the beach, by the pool, in the backyard, or in the gym shower. They should never be considered as an option for a job interview, party, or dining out. If you're a fan of flip-flops because of the comfort they provide, attempt elevating your footwear by pairing leather thongs or embellished flat sandals with your look instead." — Erin Sumwalt, StyleWatch
"You know those polyester bodycon minidresses girls love to wear? You'll never catch me out in one of those. It's just something about the material and the way the dress constantly rides up that bothers me. Don't get me wrong, I love showing off my curves, but I'd rather rock skintight leather pants paired with an off-the-shoulder crop top and my fave Jeffrey Campbell platforms any day. Leather = a good night in my book." — Maya Allen, Cosmopolitan.com
"I believe in staying true to your personal style and dressing for the destination you are going to. Recognising how you should dress for a specific event is important. If I am going out at night or on the town, I would never wear rubber flip-flops—those are reserved for the beach!" — Sarah Hanna Nazzal, ICA
"I would never wear sky-high stilettos out. After one too many times making the mistake of wearing painfully high stilettos out dancing with my girlfriends, I've learned my lesson. Heels are of course a super-flattering style for a night on the town, but there's nothing chic about hobbling around all evening, so I always make sure to choose a high-heeled style that not only looks great, but feels great too." — Aemilia Madden, Who What Wear
"Few things are worse than finagling off a jumpsuit in what is typically a tiny, hot restroom all while a line is forming, with people tapping their toes for you to hurry it up. I tend to stick to a billowy off-the-shoulder top with jeans—sometimes cropped with a wide-leg, sometimes skinny, always high-rise—and block heels." — Hillary Stronger, Neiman Marcus
"Believe it or not, I would never go out wearing heels. It might seem crazy (and the opposite of what most people would do), but I find that flats really work for me—I feel more like myself, and I can walk around all night without foot pain!" — Ali Pew, InStyle
