The “ugly” shoe trend has stirred up much discussion recently, so as a result, we’ve been on high alert for new examples of fashion girls nailing the shoe trend. The latest is none other than one of our favorite stylish celebrities, Dakota Johnson.
Johnson, who could easily be mistaken for a street style star on any given day, wore a summer-friendly version of the trend while out and about in Hollywood yesterday: a pair of classic white Birkenstock sandals. In a bold move, characteristic of how fashion girls style their “ugly” sandals, Johnson chose to pair hers with equally polarizing mom jeans and a tucked-in oversize graphic tee (both presumably vintage). As a finishing touch, she wore her new favorite pair of tasseled earrings. On paper, you wouldn’t think that this frumpy-sounding ’80s-inspired outfit would work, but Johnson effortlessly proved that sometimes the most surprising pairings are actually the coolest.
