10 Tops That Will Work Hard for a Skype Interview

It’s that time of year when you’re starting to make progress on your New Year’s resolutions—and for many, that might include aiming for a promotion or new job. The hard part? Figuring out what you want to do with your career and locking down that interview. The easy part? Dressing for it. And that’s where we slide in to help.

Technology plays a huge role in the recruitment process—international waters are no longer a reason to miss out on an interview, and Skype meetings are frequent. What to wear is a tricky one—do you need to get dressed up head to toe? No. But you do need to put in the effort—maybe more than you would if you were meeting in person. Appearance plays an important part in first impressions (sad, but true), so you really need to make an impact from the waist up.

Cleavage is out, as are ‘tricky’ tops and OTT patterns that will detract from what you have to say. Keep jewellery to a minimum (it isn't the time to show off your shoulder-length tassel earrings) and colours neutral.
