Taylor Swift Just Wore the Pretty Red Carpet Trend She Brings Back Every Winter

If you're anything like me, you've had Taylor Swift's new version of her Red album on repeat all day today. Of course, she's been busy this week on a promotional tour supporting the new release, which has included two late-night talk shows, a red carpet event, and rehearsals for her Saturday Night Live appearance.

One of my favorite looks so far has been her plum-colored velvet Etro suit that she styled with Alexandre Birman boots. Velvet is a trend that Swift brings back every fall and winter without fail—can you blame her? Especially when worn in a beautiful gemstone color, it's just so perfectly festive and cozy for the season. Oh, and let's not forget about the stars of her short film: Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien, who also looked exceptionally cool on the red carpet. Scroll down to see the photos and to shop my favorite velvet pieces.

Next, Meghan Markle Wore a Plunging Gown With a Thigh-High Slit on the Red Carpet

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
