For all intents and purposes, Taylor Swift has been insanely famous for the entire duration of her young-adult life. So it's an intriguing question: What would Swift tell her 13-year-old self, when she was on the brink of superstardom and about to have her life change forever?

"If I could go back and tell myself one thing as a 13-year-old, I think I would go back and tell myself that everything that's going to happen to me—even the bad things—are happening for a reason," Swift tells Elle in a behind-the-scenes video of her June cover shoot. "And that I will actually learn more from the bad things that happen to me than I will the good things."
