9 Street Style Trends That Will Dominate Your Instagram Feeds in 2019

In the age of scrolling, Instagram images arguably have a bigger impact on how women dress and shop than anything else. So, what are set to be the next big street style trends for 2019? There are some micro-trends that we guarantee that will get a lot of airtime over the next six months. Athleisure is taking a turn this spring, with many designers creating surf- and skateboard-inspired pieces. If cycling shorts, tie-dye, and chunky trainers aren't for you, fear not. Next year there will also be a move toward more polished styling, as I'm willing to bet that preppy headbands, prairie dresses, and old Céline will feature in every street style gallery over the next 12 months. Keep scrolling to see the nine street style trends that will take off in 2019.

Tie-Dye

In 2019 athleisure has taken a more adventurous turn, with surfer and skater staples inspiring the likes of Chanel and Etro. Colorful tie-dye T-shirts and sweatshirts are an essential component of this California uniform. Expect to see this print all over your Instagram feeds.

Cycling Shorts

Cycling shorts started trending last spring, but in 2019, things are going to reach a whole new level as Fendi, Chanel, Jacquemus, Acne Studios, and Chanel included bike shorts in their collections.

Racer Tanks

This was probably the most popular street style image of 2018, so we can expect to see many more racer vests over the next 12 months. Plus, Ganni included this vest in its S/S 19 collection, guaranteeing that this will be the new T-shirt shape du jour.

Sage Green

When it comes to colors, this soft sage green featured in many spring collections has already been a hit with the street style set. Plus, #greenaesthetic is trending on Pinterest, guaranteeing this is going to be one of those social media–friendly looks.

"Old Céline"

If there's one thing we'll see a lot of in street style pictures in 2019, it's "old Céline" as the fashion crowd has been investing in final pieces of Phoebe Philo's designs. On the day she announced her departure, for example, resale site The RealReal announced a 45% increase in searches for her designs.

Neon

Neon is a slightly scarier trend for 2019—but considering Prada has been creating highlighter accessories and the Kardashians are fully behind glow-in-the-dark outfits, we can prepare for some high fashion, hi-vis.

Headbands

Prada has a habit of creating street style trends that go viral seemingly overnight, and for spring, Miuccia created headbands with a regal, exaggerated stature.

Prairie Dress

Prairie dresses were popular in 2018, but these vintage-style smocks are going to be even bigger in 2019 thanks to brands like Brock Collection, Ulla Johnson, Coach 1941, and Munthe.

Fringed Accessories

Jacquemus often dictates street style trends, and for S/S 19, he has created XXL beach bags with dramatic fringing. This is set to be one of the cult-favorite buys of next year.
