This May 8–19, Who What Wear Australia presents the second annual Street Style Awards, #TheStreeties, honouring the tastemakers and industry insiders whose style sets the tone and influences the world of fashion today. Last year, Brooke Testoni was crowned the winner of the 2016 Street Style Awards, largely down to her original, authentic and creative fashion choices. Be sure to check back on May 19 for our announcement of this year's honourees.
We look to street style to inform and inspire us, dissecting the different and interesting ways real women dress. Every year, it feels like Fashion Week Australia comes around faster and faster—it's the week of the year we look forward to the most. Fashion Weeks around the world, and in Australia, offer a chance to capture the creativity of street style within a city.
This year, we're celebrating the spontaneity of Sydney style with our second annual Street Style Awards (aka #TheStreeties). In the lead up to Fashion Week Australia, we'll be helping build anticipation with a look back to past street style—the memorable moments that meant something then, and still feel relevant now. It could be in the jewellery pieces that you still wear today, or an incredible pair of shoes you'll never forget, or perhaps just the spirit of an image.
Because that's the power of creative freedom. When an outfit feels original and fresh, it will always spark that same excitement in the pit of your belly. If last year's Fashion Week style is anything to go by, we have no doubt that the street style this year, will be a solid 10/10.
