The Shoe Trends Everyone Will Wear This Spring
Fashion month is a bittersweet time. You get excited for all the newness that the coming season will bring, but realise that the new season product is months away. Well, today, we are here to meet you in the middle. Now that New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks are finally over, we can officially sit down and comprehend all the new spring 2019 trends we've seen, and let me tell you they're good.
First up on the spring-trend menu is shoes. Here, get a first look at nine of the most popular shoe styles we saw come down the S/S 19 runways all across the globe. Trust us when we say that these will be the footwear styles you'll see all over town. And since we know having to wait for anything let alone new shoes is painfully dreadful, we shopped out a few spring shoe trends you can start wearing now.
Spring's hottest shoe trends proved that strapping is getting a little trickier. The introduction of flip-flops into our wardrobes was apparently just the beginning of shoe styles that will be gracing the insides of our toes in the coming months.
Fishnets, shells, and sea creatures of all kinds made a name for themselves on the S/S 19 runways, and frankly, the sentiment felt much fresher than an array of floral footwear. Hold on to your puka shell anklets. Everything from under the sea is remaining relevant come spring.
We never thought we'd see the day, but Teva culture has officially infiltrated the world of fashion. Designers like Sandy Liang accessorised their collections with actual Teva sandals while others reinvented forward versions of the style. Whichever way you want to slice and dice it, Tevas are totally cool.
Statement prints of all kinds graced the feet of towering models and accompanied the looks we can't wait to re-create. The concept of printed shoes, whether they be boots, mules, or pumps, is exactly what we love about spring—more fun and more colour.
Feathers are a sartorial add-on we are always delighted to see return to the forefront of the trend scene. This time around, designers didn't hold back with their use of feathers as we saw everything from boots to slingback pumps come flying down the spring runways doused in feathers of every color imaginable.
Logomania has continued to circulate through a handful of seasons, but the S/S 19 representation of the trend might just be our favourite iteration yet. Designers like Prada, Off-White, and Versace (just to name a few) made sure you knew exactly where that shoe came from by slapping their names across straps, trims, and more, adding a playful athleisure element to the craze.
Last season it was lavender, and this season it's orange. Shown in a variety of hues, it was made apparent this color is one to watch come spring 2019. But so far, we have high hopes for the colorway and are excited to add the warm hue to our color palette.
It's safe to expect some sort of major sock moment come fashion month, but we were pleasantly surprised by the type of socks we saw paired with heel trend after heel trend: sheer nylons. Shown at Prada with knee-high versions and at Dolce & Gabbana with ankle-grazing styles, this versatile sock look is one to incorporate into your spring wardrobe stat.
One shoe trend we are beyond excited to see carry over into the spring season is crystals. Drip them, fringe them, throw them on an ankle strap—we don't care—as long as your shoes glisten like a disco ball, we're happy, and we're pretty sure you will be too.
