One thing I'm guilty of is buying into every trend. So this season, I challenged myself to limit the number of of-the-moment buys I'm adding to my closet. To make sure I was narrowing in on the trendy items I'd actually wear the most (and not just once or twice), I created a capsule wardrobe. Creating one is easier said than done, but I recently went on a several-week-long trip and was basically forced to create one for the sake of my luggage. To be honest, I crushed it and ended up getting tons of outfit mileage out of what I packed.

Now that I'm home and spring is in full session, I'm excited to continue getting mileage out of my successful capsule. It involves a few key trends, five to be exact, as well as eight cool basics. Altogether, there are eight outfit combinations (and counting) that I'm wearing on repeat. They run the gamut from the casual 'fit I work from home to the trendy outfits I wear to fashion meetings and even a few date night–ready looks, too.

I'm pretty proud of myself with this one, so I figured I'd share it with you all. Ahead, see the spring capsule wardrobe I created with both trends and basics, and further down, get inspired by some of the outfit combinations I'm putting together with these pieces. If you see me living in these looks from now until June, you'll know why…

Trench + Striped Shirt + Low-Rise Trousers + Loafers

Normally, khakis and loafers would feel too preppy for my taste, but the low-rise trousers add the right amount of trendiness to make it feel cool.

Tube Top + Low-Rise Trousers + Heeled Mules + Shoulder Bag

I love the hint of '90s minimalism in this easy-but-cool outfit. I've been wearing it nonstop this spring when I go out to dinner and drinks, often throwing a light jacket on over.

Striped Shirt + Relaxed Jeans + Baseball Hat + Retro Sneakers

When I'm working from home but have to pop out for a meeting or two, I like this relaxed outfit.

Leather Jacket + Tube Top + Miniskirt + Mules + Shoulder Bag

A spring date-night outfit that doesn't involve jeans and crop top? I'll take it.

Trench + Striped Shirt + Baby Tee + Relaxed Jeans + Sneakers + Baseball Hat

Jeans and a tee can easily feel boring, but adding cool layers with the shirt and trench coat make it more dynamic and interesting.

Leather Jacket + Striped Shirt + Miniskirt + Loafers

I'll admit it: This image of Hailey Bieber fully influenced my outfit choice. I think she's onto something because I felt so cool in this preppy-with-an-edge ensemble.

Trench + Baby Tee + Low-Rise Trousers + Retro Sneakers

I'm all about a casual-cool vibe this season, and the combination of the trench coat and loose trousers strike the right balance of polished but relaxed.

Leather Jacket + Baby Tee + Relaxed Jeans + Loafers

Sometimes, all you need are the classics. Jeans, a tee, and a leather jacket are given a preppy twist with the addition of a baseball hat and loafers. Take it into dinnertime by simply skipping the hat.
