The exhilarating aspect of being a fashion editor is that you're encouraged to indulge your curiosity. Memorizing the top runway designers or big-name brands isn't enough—rather, keeping up on all of the emerging designers as well as independent, smaller labels is part of the gig as well. And while it's admittedly a fun job, the logistics of knowing every single brand can be exhausting with a capital E.

That's why most fashion editors employ a secret weapon or two to help them discover these designers, which is why Shopbop's latest announcement is worth paying attention to. The online retailer just launched a program called The Notables, which is a seasonal roundup of need-to-know labels its team is excited about.

"We search near and far to find the most coveted brands," Shopbop Fashion Director Caroline Maguire says. "The Notables tells such a beautiful story—it speaks to each designer, their inspiration for the season and who they are." Right now, the five brands featured are Aje, Good American, AGMES, Alevi Milano, Deveaux and ODP (Officina del Poggio).

Ahead, see our shopping roundup of the 25 best picks from these labels and keep a watch on The Notables to see who the next It designer will be.
