4 Shoe Trends We'll All Be Buying in 2019 (That Work Now Too)

When it comes to footwear in 2019, the general rule is the louder, the better. At almost every S/S 19 show, we saw bold, maximalist shoes (feathers, crystals, and dramatic silhouettes). These looked more like December party shoes than summer sandals, meaning you don't need to wait six months to invest in these spring shoes. Party shoes won't go to the back of your wardrobe after New Year's Eve, either.

High on our shopping lists are Attico's black feather mules and a pair of square-toe sandals. Next year will also see the return of the ballet pumps, as the likes of Dior and Stella McCartney created shoes that would fit right in on the barre. Keep scrolling to see and shop the key shoe trends for 2019.

1. Square-Toe Sandals

Square-toe sandals at Balenciaga.

Square-toe sandals became of the shoes of the summer thanks to Instagram label By Far, and the trend is set to continue well into 2019 thanks to the likes of Burberry and Balenciaga. But it's not just sandals that come with this angular front.

2. Feather Shoes

Feather sandals at Valentino.

All kinds of shoes have been adorned with feathers for 2019, including sandals, mules, and heels. Valentino's chunky sandals with a feather tail are high on our wish lists.

3. Ballet Shoes

Ballet shoes at Dior.

Ballet was a key inspiration for next season, as Maria Grazia Chiuri's S/S 19 show for Dior was influenced by dance. Ballet pumps are set to return for spring with ties and ribbons in true Royal Opera House style.

4. Crystal-Adorned Shoes

Crystal boots at Christopher Kane.

The likes of Miu Miu and Christopher Kane created disco-ready shoes for spring with a lot of crystals.
