This Controversial Leggings Trend Is Back and This Time It Costs $4000

Just as major fashion trends of every era have a way of making it back around the loop every year, micro trends (whether a hit or not) somehow make their way back into our wardrobes as well. But always in a new, updated way. No matter how much we think we've put it to rest, a great designer has to come along and reinvent it, making it irresistible for us to go back for round two.

Take a moment to rewind, circa 2008, when Marissa Cooper made Keds and capri pants a thing, or when the British It girls Sienna Miller and Kate Moss made every girl on the planet want to buy boho belts and capes. The controversial "Rats" leggings were also up there among the few experimental pants we wore with everything from cobalt blue to studded high heels and, you'd never have guessed it, but the ruched-side, leather-look leggings are back on the market thanks to the stylish Olsen twins of The Row. We're not entirely sure whether to call it good or bad news but we predict it won't be long until the likes of Bella Hadid wear them and make something old, become something new. Because not to be taken lightly, the "Rats" leggings are edgy and head-turning.

For something a little more budget-friendly, shop the Club L Mesh Ruched Detail Legging ($44)
