To be honest, I've never spent much time thinking about undergarments, but Soozie Jenkinson's passion for the category is seriously contagious. Jenkinson is the head of lingerie for British stalwart Marks & Spencer, which sold its first bra in 1926—so you better believe it has perfected the art by now. According to the retailer, one in three British women wear its lingerie, which is certainly a statistic that caught my eye—and Jenkinson is the one who makes it all happen.

Jenkinson can talk about fabric compositions and bra construction methods with as much gusto as anything, making her the perfect person to tap for 2020 bra trend predictions. So what can we expect to sell incredibly well next year? She outlines four bra trends that she predicts will catch on, including a trend that will suit romantics at heart, and one that will be perfect for women into sports and exercise. Scroll down for Jenkinson's four bra trend predictions for 2020.

Silk Balcony Bras

"There is a return to all things silky for the upcoming season," Jenkinson told Who What Wear. "Our Rosie for Autograph lingerie nods to this modern trend combining beautiful silk with French designed lace. The silk is designed to be machine washable too so it’s both luxurious to wear and easy to care for. The Underwired Balcony Bra is a favorite piece, and I'm in love with the lilac vintage floral and the rich purple color, which dresses the lingerie collection for fall."

High-Impact, Technical Sports Bras

"The interest in health and fitness shows no signs of slowing down, and as a result, we're seeing a demand for high-impact sports bras that deliver on minimizing breast movement whilst also look stylish," Jenkinson told us. "Our innovative Extra-High Impact Sports Bra is one of our best-selling styles, and it's crafted to provide incredible support while still being incredibly comfortable to wear. This unique bra was created in partnership with scientists in Japan where avatars were created to help us study what the best ingredients and construction methods would be to develop this bra up to a GG cup. This hardworking bra will support you through the toughest of workouts, whether it be your go-to boot-camp class or a boxing session."

Sustainable Cotton Bras

"Cotton lingerie is a staple in many women’s underwear drawers. Our pretty Cool Comfort Cotton bras combine cotton which is sustainably sourced BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) with corded lace. My favorite bra in this collection is the non-padded underwire bra, which is developed up to an H cup. There are gorgeous matching knickers to wear with this bra to make an elegant matching set."

Supportive Bralettes

"The bralette goes from strength to strength, and will continue to in 2020 with fresh colours, fabrics, and laces. Our Louisa Bralette is one of my favourites—it has a flattering V-neck aesthetic and innovative construction providing added support, lift, shape, and confidence up to a G cup. This bralette is so popular it has even gained its own fan club! It's so versatile we've seen some customers styling it as a crop top with high-waisted jeans."

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
