Gigi Hadid Wore 2019's Most Controversial Sneaker Trend

Model-slash–sneaker influencer Gigi Hadid (she does have an endorsement deal with Reebok, after all) is not one to shy away from controversial trends. It makes sense when you're a person who basically sets sneaker (and a multitude of other) trends—you can get away with wearing whatever you want and have it instantly be deemed "cool." Such is sure to be the case with the sneaker trend she wore while leaving a photo shoot in NYC the other day: platform sneakers.

Earlier this year, we pointed out that platform sneakers were the 2019 version of "ugly" sneakers after spotting them repeatedly on Instagram and among many retailers' new shoe arrival inventory. And now that Hadid just showed her support of the trend via a pair of platform Reebok sneakers (in a bold red shade, no less), we're even more convinced that the style is growing in popularity, especially as people start to shed their boots in preparation for spring. Hadid's sneakers are from her own collection with Reebok, and they feature a triple-stacked sole. But if that's a bit too extreme for you, they also come in a double-stacked version.

Keep scrolling to see how Hadid styled the platform sneakers, shop the trend, and see more of her best sneaker moments on Instagram.
