What to Wear This Party Season if You Hate Dressing Up

End of year parties are coming at us from all directions. The Who What Wear Australia team lunch is themed this year—we've got it easy with a black dress and oversized earrings (AKA the team uniform), but when you don't have a theme to stick to, it can be overwhelming. We're all for recycling key wardrobe pieces and freshening them up with new accessories, but if you're looking to shop for a new outfit, we've reached out for some expert assistance. Eva Galambos, owner and buyer of Sydney boutique Parlour X, is an expert when it comes to event dressing. Galambos knows the collections inside out, and understands how women like to dress, and what they actually shop for.

In the lead up to the silly season, we asked some very important (and specific) questions, like "what are some major party dressing trends to trial, for women in their thirties?". Her answer? Colour! Galambos explained, "We’re so lucky in Australia that party season falls in summer—embrace the warmer weather, balmy days and warmer nights and have some fun with colour in your party looks—stand out from the crowd and embrace the festive season." An LBD is safe. Mix it up, ladies. And for those who hate getting 'dressed up', Galambos offers this advice—"a floaty summer dress or top-and-skirt-combo are the ultimate go-tos for a summer event, leaving you effortlessly comfortable and completely polished."

So there you have it. This year, don't be afraid to embrace colour, and if throwing on a 'loud' dress feels like a little too much, go for a muted colour palette in soft, feminine pieces.
