Fun fact: Maggie Rogers’s career took off last year when a video of Pharrell critiquing her in a master class at NYU last year went viral. He described the singer-songwriter’s folksy pop sound at “singular.” The Maryland native released a new EP last month, and much of her upcoming tour is already sold out.

St. Beauty creates the kind of music that just makes you feel cool listening to it. With a fresh, chill sound, Atlanta-bred Isis Valentino and Alex Belle are part of Janelle Monáe’s collective, and their track “Borders” was just featured on HBO’s Insecure. Add to all that the fact that the duo has style in spades, and you’ve got the It-girl title secured.

“Cool-country girl” is a thing, and Nikki Lane is undoubtedly a new contender to lead the pack. The Nashville-based artist has a fresh take on the Americana sound. She’s also a fashion girl with her own vintage shop, High Class Hillbilly. Twenty-seventeen is already proving to be a big year for Lane. She released her new album (Highway Queen) last month and embarked on a worldwide tour just this week.
