Sometimes, all you need is to see other people looking really cool in jeans to be reminded that you too can look really cool in jeans—even the ones you've owned for years. It might seem impossible to make your old basic denim feel fresh again, but I have a feeling that after seeing the eight fall denim outfits ahead, your mindset will shift. None of the looks I have included here are out of the ordinary. In fact, they really are quite simple, but this fall, simple is our goal.
Instead of feeling stressed or pressured into buying tons of new items, the outfit ideas ahead will hopefully remind you that your closet is poppin' and that with the addition of just a few one-off items, you could literally create all eight jeans outfits at the drop of a hat. And if that's not encouraging, I don't know what is.
What you'll need: Blazer + Button-Down + Dark Jeans
Make your go-to tailored pieces like a boxy blazer and crisp button-down feel more casual by pairing them with looser jeans.
What you'll need: Turtleneck + Light Jeans + Chunky Boots
Even something as basic as a white turtleneck can be made to look 10 times cooler with the addition of classic jeans and super chunky boots.
What you'll need: Cool Jacket + Dark Jeans + Sneakers
This season is all about unique, reimagined blazers and jackets. With something so interesting to look at up top, items as simple as jeans and sneakers on the bottom just make sense.
What you'll need: Fringe Jacket + Skinny Jeans + Ankle Boots
Fringe is one of this season's biggest trends, and we can't think of an easier way to style it than with simple jeans and ankle boots. If you're going to dabble in something sartorially new for you, then make sure you're also wearing something that makes you feel comfortable.
What you'll need: Chunky Sweater + Jeans + Gold Necklace
It really doesn't get much simpler (or easier) than this. A chunky black sweater is a basic everyone should have in their fall wardrobe, and when paired with timeless denim and delicate gold jewelry, you really can't go wrong.
What you'll need: Silky Scarf + Fitted Long-Sleeve Top + Jeans
Get excited about your denim again via a trendy scarf worn in your hair and a fitted black long-sleeve top. The simplicity of the top and the jeans really allows your fun new accessory to shine.
What you'll need: Cropped Cardigan + High-Rise Jeans
Cropped cardigans are really where it's at. Pair one with your favorite high-rise jeans, and honestly, you really don't need much else.
What you'll need: Sweater Set + Light Jeans + Animal-Print Knee-High Boots
This photo of Aimee Song is from last fall, but it feels more relevant now than ever. Sweater sets are shaping up to be a major trend this season, and we are so excited about it.
