These Will Be the Biggest Trends of the Year—Period

We love Mother Earth and fashion. The two don’t have to be mutually exclusive, which is why for Earth Day, 100% of the products featured in editorial stories published today will be eco-friendly.

There are a lot of fun trends whirling around so far this year, from ubiquitous tie-dye to utility styles and neon hues, and let's not forget the micro-trends (leather Bermuda shorts and patchwork dresses, anyone?). As we reflect on the melting pot of styles we saw during F/W 19 fashion week, we've been quick to assess the plethora of trends that will be huge come September.

We also like to take stock of how styles are evolving in the fashion world so our future purchases can be informed ones. Today we're honing in on the biggest overarching trends that are inescapable this year. These are trends that you can purchase now and wear into fall. So if you want to stay ahead of the curve and gain some clarity as to which trends are going to extend into the next season, scroll below.

Animal Print

At this point, you can consider animal print a new neutral. Whether it's leopard, zebra, or tiger, animal prints made a huge appearance on the fall 2019 runways and continue to be a cherished trend among the fashion crowd. If you haven't already invested in an animal-print dress, skirt, jacket, or boots, now's the time.

Leather

Leather separates are having a major moment this year, and the trend is only getting more popular as we go into fall. The luxe-looking fabric made an appearance on nearly every major runway in a variety of colors and silhouettes. Invest in a pair of leather shorts you can wear through spring and summer with sandals and tank tops, then into fall with opaque tights and boots.

There's no doubt that fashion girls have been all over the mock-croc trend, sporting the textured fabric on chic shoes and bags alike. It's one of the smartest purchases you'll make this year because the expensive-looking trend is here to stay for 2019. Invest in chic mock-croc mules, boots, or handbags.

Shop the trend:

Pistachio

Call it sage green, pistachio, or mint, this verdant hue was seen on models from head-to-toe on the runways, and we've been spotting fashion girls sporting the sweet shade on the streets all season. It's the perfect shade to wear for spring, but expect to see the color dominating our feeds by fall.

Feathers

Whether as an embellishment to a jacket or coated on a striking party dress, plumes were seen in a multitude of collections from Gucci to Tom Ford. This may not be a trend you'll wear every day, but it is one you'll want to dance around in for a night on the town.
