TV worlds are colliding: Fans of The O.C. and The Hills are in for a real treat. Us Weekly reports that Mischa Barton is confirmed to join the cast of MTV's The Hills: New Beginnings, which was first announced back in August. She'll join other cast members of the reboot, which include Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Spencer and Heidi Pratt, and Justin Brescia (a.k.a Justin Bobby).

Per Us Weekly, the new role "is going to document her comeback. Hopefully people will see her in a new light and not just because of personal problems in the years past." Barton never appeared in the original show, but as People points out, The O.C. was said to have inspired Laguna Beach, which later spun off to The Hills starring Lauren Conrad, so the news isn't as surprising as you might think. Stay tuned as we learn more about the reboot—in the meantime, scroll down to revisit our favorite throwback looks in honor of the news.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
