The Queen Gave the Prettiest Gift to Her New Best Friend Meghan Markle

Taking a solo trip with the queen of England is something only a select few get to do, and as an official member of the royal family, Meghan Markle (aka the Duchess of Sussex) is now one of those few. The pair embarked on a number of engagements today around the UK, including a bridge opening in Chester, a theater opening, and a lunch. They traveled on the queen's private royal train (apparently it's a big deal that Markle got to join her). And from the looks of the plethora of photos of the pair laughing and whispering to each other throughout the day, they seem to have had a ball together.

For the engagements, Queen Elizabeth II wore a bold hue (per usual) that happens to be trending right now: lime green. Markle donned a cape sheath dress, custom-made by her wedding gown designer, Givenchy. She paired the ivory dress with a logo belt and clutch, also by the fashion house, and simple black Sarah Flint pumps. But it was her earrings that we were particularly interested in. Buckingham Palace is said to have confirmed that the queen gifted Markle with the pearl-and-diamond studs from her own jewelry collection in celebration of their trip, and they're the perfect style for everyday wear.

Below, see how much fun the duo had together and check out Markle's new earrings up close.
