I don't want to sound like too much of a fangirl, but I have always been a sucker for couple style. After all, who can deny the hold that stylish pairs (think of the Carters or the Clooneys) have had on the cultural zeitgeist. Perhaps our collective idealization of celebrity relationships could be to blame (or rising TikTok trends like "outfits I'd wear if we were dating"), but to be honest, it's hard not to get cuffed to the idea of couple style when duos like Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly exist.

Since the couple became public, their relationship and outfits have been a regular point of conversation within the Who What Wear editors' Slack channel. Individually, they're both stylish (Megan Fox regularly takes styling risks, and MGK aka Colson Baker isn't afraid to layer on the men's jewelry), but collectively, their style is superior because they go where others won't go. As much as runway season after runway season has tried to make grunge a thing, Fox and Baker have revived the pop-punk aesthetic with ease. Maybe it's a little bit out there to wear a vial of your partner's blood as jewelry, but hey, they're the only present-day couple that could make it chic.

Still dubious about why this couple has been living in my mind rent-free? Keep reading, as I've taken the liberty of rounding up their best looks and shopping them out. Fair warning: This story may cause serious fashion or relationship FOMO.

WHAT: MGK's "Bloody Valentine" music video

WEAR: On Megan Fox: Calvin Klein Cotton Classic Boxer Brief ($43); Snake T-shirt; Diesel biker jacket; Wolford Courtney Tights; On Machine Gun Kelly: Dalmata chain necklace

While you may recall that rumors surrounding Fox and MGK's relationship began to swirl when the artist released his music video for the song "Bloody Valentine" back in May 2020, all I can remember is the outfits. The looks in this video are the embodiment of pop-punk style. From MGK's zebra-print blazer to Fox's black minidress, every outfit slayed.

WHAT: Album release party, September 24, 2020

WEAR: On Megan Fox: Marc Jacobs Snapshot Camera Bag ($295); Current/Elliott Stiletto Jeans; Stuart Weitzman Mirri Cheetah Print Sandals; On Machine Gun Kelly: Dr. Martens Jadon Smooth Platform Boots ($180)

The key to dressing as a pair isn't always matching. Rather, it's making your looks complementary. Case in point: this vibe from Fox and MGK. Fox's simple black jeans, black leather jacket, and bold accessories are the perfect yin energy to the bold head-to-toe white graffiti denim look on MGK.

WHAT: 2020 American Music Awards

WEAR: On Megan Fox: Loren Stewart necklace; Azzi & Osta set; Tyler Ellis Perry Plexi Clutch; Giambattista Valli sandals; On Machine Gun Kelly: Balmain suit

In many ways, the 2020 American Music Awards defined the relationship between Fox and MGK. Sure, they had been photographed numerous times together, but the award ceremony was their first official appearance together, solidifying them as a stylish duo to watch on and off the red carpet.

WEAR: On Megan Fox: Bottega Veneta trench coat; Ksubi Playback True Vintage Slash Jeans ($240); Bottega Veneta BV Jodie Mini Intrecciato Leather Bag ($1790); Balenciaga Square Knife Pumps ($850)

Did looking at this image make you want to sing Avril Lavigne's song "Sk8er Boi"? It doesn't get more punk boyfriend, pop girlfriend than this look from Fox and MGK. Her full-pink trench coat next to his black trench coat is a pairing I didn't know I needed in my life.

Hear that noise? It's these outfits screaming to be stared at. Everything about these looks is perfection—from MGK's pigtails, sheer tank, and Rick Owens platform boots to Fox's Tom Ford platform sandals and stunning studded trench coat. Basically, they're the poster couple for the punk aesthetic.

Not to sound like a broken record, but yet again, this couple proves that the best date-night outfits strike the perfect yin and yang balance—quite literally. MGK's all-black look next to Fox's white ensemble is the type of coordination that can make you want to text your partner real quick to ask them why they don't want to get all matchy-matchy with you.

WEAR: On Megan Fox: Sami Miro Vintage Asymmetric Long Sleeve Dress ($310); Saint Laurent Nano Sac De Jour Tote Bag ($2290); Amina Muaddi Yellow Satin Naima Crystal Heels; On Machine Gun Kelly: Berluti suit

Frankly, we do not have enough conversations about how well MGK dresses—he serves us moment after moment on and off the red carpet. But what he's particularly great at is a bold head-to-toe monochrome look. Think of his all-pink MTV Video Music Awards getup or this date-night outfit. When your man shows up this well-dressed, sometimes, all a girl can do is slip on a little black dress and let him be the star of the show for the evening.

Courtside looks low-key are out here scoring all the points. (Think of Rihanna's courtside outfits.) In the case of this story, we got these matching neutral looks from Fox and MGK. Who said sports couldn't be stylish?

WEAR: On Megan Fox: Sophodes hoodie and sweatpants; Vans Old Skool Sneakers ($69); Stella McCartney Stella Logo Shoulder Bag ($665); Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Noe; Ray-Ban Original 58mm Aviator Sunglasses ($161); On Machine Gun Kelly: Dior Oblique T-Shirt ($790); Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere Bag Monogram See Through Mesh 50 ($4950)

Okay, I'll admit this is not the most aspirational look from the couple, but hear me out. It's the type of subtle drip you'd want to wear with bae on the weekends. From Fox's matching sweatsuit and Stella McCartney bag to MGK's Dior T-shirt, nothing about this look is ordinary. But the true unsung accessories of this look are their matching Louis Vuitton bags, which makes us wonder, If your partner isn't rocking LV with you, is it even love?

You can't bring back grunge without a bit of flannel action, but before you give up hope on ever embracing the pop-punk aesthetic, please remember (and print out) this date-night look from Fox and MGK. They're proof that matching flannels can be—dare we say—chic.

WHAT: Saturday Night Live, January 30, 2021

WEAR: On Megan Fox: 3.1 Phillip Lim Zip Paneled Leather Coat; LaQuan Smith jumpsuit; Christian Louboutin Izamayeah 130 Crocodile-Effect Leather Boots ($1395); On Machine Gun Kelly: Balmain cardigan; Converse x Brain Dead Chuck 70 High Black Canvas Sneakers ($310)

While everyone was shook over MGK's performance on Saturday Night Live back in January, I lost it over the couple's after-show looks. If this look still doesn't do it for you, then you may never stan for their couple style. No shirt underneath the Balenciaga cardigan? The snake-print LaQuan Smith jumpsuit? I am unwell.

While embracing the pop-punk aesthetic can be the ticket to some people's style downfall, for MGK and Fox, that's far from the case. Of course, there are so many elements that have to align to achieve this level of style synergy—you need great stylists like Maeve Reilly and Morgan Pinneywho help their clients embrace their style and take fashion risks. But most importantly, you need a couple that's unafraid to let their expression of love for fashion (and for each other) show through their clothing. You need a couple that's a divine pairing in every aspect—a twin flame, so to speak. When you do find someone that's both your partner and someone as stylish as you? Well, that's perfect.
