This Is How to Shop Like a French Girl

If you share in our affinity for all things French style, prepare to be obsessed with the latest collection from Madewell's collaboration with Sézane. (You might remember that the two brands hit it out of the park with their previous collabs as well.) To get the scoop on the new wares—and to pick her brain on how we can achieve that French girl look—we went straight to Sézane's founder, Morgane Sézalory.

The Parisian designer explained how women from her country prefer to shop for timeless pieces above all else. "I think French girls are really looking more and more for something unique and exclusive that won't go out of style: the perfect fit pair of jeans, shirt with the perfect cut, and comfortable (but still feminine) shoes," Sézalory told Who What Wear.

As for the collaboration, Sézalory told us that working with Madewell on this line was a no-brainer. "Madewell and Sézane are so similar!" she told us. "We both have a strong and loyal community, but also the same vision of style. It's an obvious match." We couldn't agree more.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
