During Copenhagen Fashion Week in January, I noticed Elle UK editor Daisy Murray's super-cute puff-sleeve dress and immediately asked where it was from. To my delight, it wasn't from Zara or Topshop but instead from an independent British brand with no website, just a couple thousand Instagram followers and a pair of talented sisters running the show. I love a fast-fashion find as much as the next person, but there's something special about discovering a stylish, carefully handmade brand before it hits the big leagues—and I believe I found that in M.92.
Sisters Maryam and Amina are extremely detail-oriented when it comes to crafting their pieces, which are available to order over M.92's Instagram direct messages or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. "We really are doing our best to offer unconventional designs and remarkable quality to our customers, so our design process can be really time-consuming, but I think it’s worth the wait," Maryam told Who What Wear. I'm particularly a fan of the brand's new blue-and-white silk dress, but the balloon-sleeve dress, green blazer, and other items are exceptionally chic. Word to the wise: They sell out quickly because they're produced in limited quantities.
The pieces are definitely cool, but there's more than meets the eye. "We pay fair wages to everyone we work with and aim to be very honest with our customers," Maryam told me. "This is extremely important to us since my sister and I wanted to create something we would be proud of. We also value fine craftsmanship and sustainability, which is why we made a decision to prioritize quality over quantity. We're proud to say that we use some of the best fabrics on the European market and that all our clothes are produced in London in small batches." Now that's a label we can get behind.
