Call it the Dior effect, but lingerie and lingerie-inspired clothing have, in recent seasons, taken over the forefront of fashion—and subsequently, our Instagram feeds. Whether it’s through a sheer top or an interesting layering trick, I feel like I know more about the intimates of influencers more than ever before, and it’s not really a bad thing. Rather than solely relying on what designers or retailers tell us is trending in the lingerie world, we can actually see it for ourselves, to a certain extent of course. And since there’s nothing we love more than culling trends, we thought we’d do just that today and call out the most prominent ones we’re seeing as of late.

From an of-the-moment see-through outfit paired with the unlikeliest of undergarments to the comeback of high-waisted panties, today we’re breaking down the most prominent trends, image by image, shopping pick by shopping pick—in what I hope is the least-creepy way possible. Simply continue on for all you need to know.

High-Waisted Sets

One of my personal favorites of the bunch, the high-waisted bra and underwear set is not only cute on its own but under a sheer dress.

Comfort (Sometimes) First

The rise of the super-soft bralette from tons of our favorite brands has officially made its way onto the Insta scene.

Super Strappy

The strappy bra trend is not only cool over a top, as seen above, but it’s also great for a little secret confidence boost under your clothes.

Unexpected Underwear

Where in years past, a sheer dress, top, or skirt automatically called for a nude undergarment (or whatever was the least visible), these days, it’s cooler to go the opposite route and show off whatever you’re wearing underneath with a contrast color.

Corsets and Clothes

As one of the trends in this roundup that’s been around the longest, this season, my favorite take on the corset is styled over tops and blouses.

Henley Bras

The button trend has without a doubt made its way into the lingerie world, too.

Logos

Much like the button trend, logo mania has also made its way into the lingerie world. Whether you go for a classic Calvin Klein look or a newer take, it’s time to hop on board.

That’s all for lingerie, but see the other trends I’m loving from Instagram right now.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2020, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch 90 Day Fiancé.
