Lady Gaga Wore a Beautiful Caped Coat Ahead of Her Inauguration Performance

Lady Gaga has performed at a range of venues from the Super Bowl to the Grammys, but there's no doubt that Wednesday will be a particularly special one. She will be singing the National Anthem on Inauguration Day before President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris get sworn in. Lady Gaga had utilized her massive platform to campaign for the Biden-Harris ticket, so she was a fitting choice for the event.

In her new Instagram post, Lady Gaga acknowledged the weight of the moment. "I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans," she captioned her photo. "A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance, not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol."

In the image, Lady Gaga wore an all-white outfit including a caped coat and a matching face mask. As you may know, wearing white has become a powerful symbol in politics, representing the women's suffrage movement. Scroll down to see her new photo ahead of Inauguration Day.

Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
