Kate Hudson's New Baby Girl's Name Has a Very Sentimental Meaning

Congratulations are in order: Kate Hudson has given birth to her third child. In an Instagram announcement, Hudson revealed that she welcomed a new baby daughter yesterday, October 2, who joins the actress's two sons, 14-year-old Ryder and 7-year-old Bingham. Hudson also revealed the adorable name: Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.

Curious about the unique name Rani? Hudson and boyfriend Danny Fujikawa chose a very sentimental moniker. "We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa," Hudson writes in her post. "Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back." Scroll down to see the announcement for yourself. Congratulations to the adorable new family!

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
