A Look Back at the Most Memorable Royal Wedding Dresses

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently celebrated their wedding, and this weekend, it's Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's turn. To commemorate the occasion we’re taking a look back at some of the most memorable royal wedding dresses of all time.

After researching the most iconic royal gowns—including Princess Diana, Princess Mary, and Princess Sofia, they all have one thing in common—a sleeve. Whether it’s a long sleeve or a short cap sleeve, every iconic royal gown is a little more covered up than what you’d expect to see today. For example, the most popular wedding dress style on Pinterest this year is an off-the-shoulder style—revealing much more skin than our royal counterparts. Of course, like anything to do with royal families, there is tradition to uphold, and as the weddings occur in a church, it’s considered polite to take a modest approach with dressing, and keep shoulders mostly covered up.
