The Next Big Swimwear Trend Has Nothing To Do With Swimming

Finding a swimsuit you feel comfortable in is one of the most exciting pre-summer activities. Mostly because it's a daunting task and one that feels so damn good to cross off the list.

Once reserved for pool or beachside activities, we're spotting swimwear worn as outerwear more and more. Styling swimwear used to just consist of popping a cotton tee—or even crochet—dress over your one piece, or wearing a pair of shorts on over your bikini, but now, some of the biggest luxury brands are styling swimwear as street wear, because let's be honest, some pieces should be shown off everywhere—not just on the sand.

Michael Kors styled a bikini top with a blazer and shorts at its S/S 19 show, whilst Chanel popped jeans over a one-shoulder one piece, and Altuzarra displayed a bikini top underneath a light blouse.

Take it from us, and see below why swimwear is no longer just for water-based activities.
