There aren't many fashion moments that capture my imagination. I don't spend a second of my summer wondering what the Paris shows or Met Gala red carpet have in store, and I hold the highly controversial position of not caring to speculate about royal wedding dresses. Throughout the year, however, I do occasionally find myself lying in savasana predicting the next H&M designer collaboration—and this year, as we all get hyped up about #H&MOSCHINO, the most important thing I would like you all to know that I called it. (Actually, the most important thing to know is that's it's available in select H&M stores and hm.com from 8am on November 8, but bear with me.)
My reasoning for (correctly) guessing Moschino was flawless: Off the back of that beautiful yet subdued team-up with Erdem in 2017, which was juxtaposed with the super-bold collab with Kenzo in 2016 (aka the most damn fun I've ever had attending a fashion show), H&M felt primed and ready for the pendulum to swing hard back toward the slightly outrageous. And if I know anything about Jeremy Scott, I know that the serial collaborator is forever in need of somewhere to direct all that bodacious energy.
Scott's gone on the record time and again speaking to his long-held belief that the democratization of fashion is where it's at, obviously making #H&MOSCHINO a match made in heaven. The sure-to-sell-out collection was worn on the runway by a stellar lineup of Scott's model pals, including Queen Naomi Campbell and not one, not two, but three Hadids (Gigi, Bella, and Anwar, with their mom sitting front row), and covers all the important categories: crop jackets, faux fur, gold leather, statement bags, appearances by various Disney characters, and (naturally) Moschino-emblazoned everything.
