Find a Gucci Model Who Doesn't Remind You of Harry Potter...I'll Wait
Just when we thought Alessando Michelle couldn't outdo himself anymore than he already has, his F/W 18 collection for Gucci was truly next level. We're talking dragons, snakes, decapitated fake human heads and more. While frantically scrolling through the looks, I began to feel a strange nostalgia. Obviously each look was one-of-a-kind, but I couldn't help but feel like I had been here before...to this place...with these people. Was it a dream? Was it a past collection? Oh no—it was Harry Potter.
Harry Potter fans like to get protective over their fandom (true Hufflepuff behaviour if you ask me and Cole Sprouse), but the resemblances of Gucci models to Harry Potter characters could have been spotted even if you've only watched the movies. Beyond the literal dragons, snakes, and centaur that accompanied models down the catwalk, we saw general aesthetics of the infamous Potter characters all over ranging from a young Tom Riddle to Luna Lovegood and back again.
Colour us obsessed, but we combed through the entire Gucci F/W 18 collection and picked out the looks that reminded us the most of Harry Potter characters because blimey—the resemblance is uncanny.
At first glance this model looks identical to Voldemort, but it's the striking smirk (and the hair and functioning facial features) that reminded us too much of Voldemort in his younger years—Tom Riddle.
The metallic ruffled pink dress Luna wore to Professor Slughorn's annual Christmas party with Harry will forever live on in our hearts.
While some may think this looks more Fred and George Weasley, true fans will know the resemblance to Bill Weasley is nearly identical.
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone introduced us to Professor Quirrel who is known for wearing a wrap on his head. This wrap was really a disguise to hide and protect Voldemort who is using him as a host until he regains his strength.
That tweed suit is one we would recognize from miles away. While this Gucci look is way more interesting and forward (cue sneakers and face mask), memories of Professor Umbridge and her cat obsession definitely come to mind.
Ah, the moment when Hagrid meets Madame Maxime is one that will go down in history. They shared many romantic moments throughout Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, but their expert dancing (and the dress Maxime wore while doing so) is what we remember and love most.
Sybill is the divination professor at Hogwarts. As a women who gives and educates on prophecies for a living, her bohemian garb is hard to miss.
Yes, there was a snake on the runway and instantly we thought of Voldemort's snake, Nagini. Would it really be a Harry Potter roundup without an appearance from the infamous horcrux?
Although one of Dumbledore's oldest friends, you may remember her as the little old woman from The Deathly Hallows who Voldemort was using to conceal his snake, Nagini, from Harry and Heromine in Godric's Hollow.
This Gucci look so reminded us of the frightening merpeople from Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. If you remember correctly, the second task in the Triwizard Tournament was overcoming the ability to breathe underwater in an effort to save the lives of their closest loved ones from the merpeople.
Reporter at The Daily Prophet, Rita's silky green number in The Goblet of Fire is one for the books. The glasses and vintage-inspired getup in this Gucci look reminded us of Rita and her remarkable style.
Keep checking in because knowing us, we'll be trying to make Harry Potter references from this Gucci collection all day long.
