This Is the Most Stylish Queen on RuPaul's Drag Race

On RuPaul’s Drag Race, first impressions are everything. In the first episode of every season, each queen has 30 or so seconds to make an entrance. It’s in these moments that the audience (and fellow drag contestants) are offered a glimpse at what that queen is bringing to the competition in terms of personality and style, the latter being of the highest importance, in my opinion. So when season 12 contestant Gigi Goode walked into the Werk Room in a couture pirate look complete with a matching brocade jacket, bodysuit, and custom spyglass, she told me right away she is someone to watch. And when we kicked off our new closet tour video series, #WhoWhatWardrobes, featuring our favorite stylish people, I knew I had to reach out.

Goode did not disappoint. Taking us inside the Los Angeles home she is currently sharing with a handful of fashionable friends, such as Lizzo’s stylist Marko Monroe, Goode gave us a closer look at some of her most memorable looks from season 12 thus far (including a fun fact about that brilliant Heathers-inspired eleganza outfit), her extensive hair and wig collection ("Hair is easily one of my favorite parts of drag”), and a sneak peek at her outfit for the Werq the World benefit (we hear it’s part of a glam disco dance number). Werq the World, a live stream global benefit supporting local drag queens impacted by COVID-19, is taking place Saturday, April 4, at 5 p.m. PT and will feature performances from Goode alongside other Drag Race favorites Aquaria, Plastique Tiara, and Vanessa "Vanjie” Mateo, to name a few. It’s an event not to be missed.
