5 Fall Boot Trends This 50-Year-Old Is Into (and 3 She's Way Over)

If you ask me, age is relatively irrelevant when it comes to what you can and can't wear, but what I've learned from speaking with my mother and her friends is that at a certain age, finding relatable sartorial inspiration is hard. While we always try to prioritize age inclusivity here at Who What Wear, every once in a while it's nice to actually hear from someone who has been around the trend cycle a few more times than I have and who identifies more closely with an older age group. Today, you'll have the pleasure of hearing from the insanely stylish 50-year-old influencer Renata Jazdzyk on the fall boot trends she is the most excited to wear.

Surprise, surprise—we also made her dish on the boot trends she's way over to not only keep things interesting but to also keep your closet in check. If you are reading this thinking you couldn't possibly fit one more pair of boots in your closet, take it from Renata and potentially ditch the three boot trends she is parting ways with this season. Trust me, the ones she plans on stocking up on are so good, you won't even miss the others.

Ahead, find out which boot trends Renata is parting ways with this season in addition to the five she can't wait to stock up on.

Boot trends she's over:

Sock Boots

"We all loved sock boots last season, and we probably all have them in our wardrobe now, but this season we should give them a break and instead look for shoes that are less tight."

PVC Boots

"PVC boots should also stay in your closet, or better yet, you may want to get rid of them altogether. They won’t be coming back anytime soon, if ever."

Peep-Toe Boots

"Who hasn't had peep-toe over-the-knee boots at some point? Let’s face it, we all loved them, they were fun and sexy, but not anymore. The definition of 'sexy' boots has changed, and this means no more peep-toe knee-high boots. To be honest, I don’t think any of us will be sad about getting rid of them. After all, they were never truly comfy! My toes were always freezing in them."

Boot trends she's into:

Square-Toe Boots

"Our love for square-toe shoes started this summer thanks to Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga, and it will continue during the autumn and wintertime where we will start transitioning from square-toe mules to square-toe boots. They are comfy and easy to wear pretty much with anything from jeans to dresses."

Lace-Up Boots

"Lace-up boots are one of the most searched for shoes this A/W season. You have probably seen them on catwalks at Ann Demeulemeester and most recently Manu Atelier. You can also find them in high-street stores like Zara. It’s definitely one of the hottest shoe trends of this season."

Cowboy Boots

"Don’t hide your cowboy boots just yet. They are still very in this season! One of my favorite pairs is the suede cowboy boots from Zara."

Heavy Boots

"It’s all about going back in time to the '80s and '90s and adding some 'heavy' element to your outfit as we saw in the most recent Prada collection. I’m very excited about this trend, as these are the kind of boots that are actually comfortable! Wear them with more feminine pieces like floral dresses."

Slouchy Boots

"Every fashion lover is a fan of slouchy boots. You can wear them with big oversize dresses and feel free to show off that small stretch of leg between the knees and upper thigh. In the wintertime, you can wear them with trench coats—easy, warm and comfy!"
