If there’s one thing that puts me in a good mood, it’s the arrival of summer. I eat better, sleep better, get outdoors more, read more, relax more, socialize more, and feel lighter, brighter, and happier! So it’s no surprise that summer also brings out my most joyful sartorial side too. It’s the perfect season to have fun with trends, styles, and colors that speak to my aesthetic. While I admit that most of the year, I tend to lean toward a trusty palette of black and neutrals, I’m never afraid to experiment with a pop of color now and then—especially once the sunny season rolls around.

To get in the summertime spirit, this month, I decided to try some of this season’s chicest color trends and amp up my rotation of basics. I’m always so floored at how many compliments I get when I wear color (which is definitely encouraging me to wear it more often!), and while I’ve tried a handful of runway-approved hues throughout the month, from saturated lemon to muted shades of purple, I found the three colors below to be some of my favorites to wear. Moreover, I received the most compliments and likes on Insta when wearing them. No complaints here!

If you’re looking to boost your mood this summer, try the chic trending colors below, and shop my favorite pieces to take on the color trends.

Orange

One of the most prominent colors we saw all over the S/S 22 runway was citrus orange. From Prada to Proenza Schouler, the bold color appeared on everything from accessories to shoes and dresses, exuding a sense of optimism for the new season. The fashion set has been quick to take on the unexpected color trend. We've spotted the happy hue on influencers all over our Insta feeds lately.

While orange has never really taken up space in my wardrobe, I decided to go bold and try it in an of-the-moment oversize button-down and paired it with neutral basics to let the color pop. I'm actually surprised at how much I loved wearing it. Not only did it boost my mood instantly, but also I received countless compliments on how much the color suited me. Who knew? The color works great with blue jeans and a palette of beige hues. If you want a subtler take on the trend, there are plenty of cool bags and shoes out there that will add just the right fashion-forward touch to your look.

As well as wearing orange with neutrals, I've been pairing it with light-wash denim, as the hues contrast beautifully.

For a subtler take on the trend, opt for orange accessories.

Bubblegum Pink

From more saturated fuchsia to charming bubblegum pink, the color was omnipresent on the runways—spotted in chic and modern silhouettes. It's definitely one of the more wearable shades to pull off and equally eye-catching.

I went for a statement pink sweater-jacket to amp up my staple jeans and tank top and finished the look with bold gold jewelry—which I find always looks chic with pink. This look got a lot of positive comments on Instagram, and I can't complain about that!

A pink dress is always a winner in my eyes, and summer is the perfect opportunity to try it. Go for a minimalist silhouette to keep your look streamlined and pair with neutrals or a contrasting accessory.

Fresh and modern, this intense pure green is fast becoming one of my favorite colors to wear this season. The color looks luxe and always adds an expensive-looking touch to my outfits. The fashion crowd has been all over this color, particularly when it comes to accessorizing.

This bag has been my go-to to add the color trend to my look this season. It's fun, fresh, and cool.

This shade of green looks amazing in a cool print as well as a solid color. For a striking look that got all the likes, I tried a vintage-inspired psychedelic print—so gorgeous for any casual summer soirée.
