Katie, Chrissy, and Gigi Just Wore 2020's Biggest Jean Trends

We fashion people are always itching to get ahead of the latest, freshest new trends before anyone else. While the spring 2020 trends provided a smorgasbord of exciting new styles for us to look forward to (colored leather, waistcoats, and Bermuda shorts to name a few), it’s our trusty staple jeans that we’re most looking forward to updating. The S/S 2020 runways showcased some refreshing new and old jean styles—from ’70s flares to vintage washes to distressed fabrics. We’ve already spotted the trends on some of our favorite influencers and celebs—including Katie Holmes, Chrissy Teigen, Gigi Hadid, and more. Scroll below to see some of spring 2020’s biggest jean trends on a few of our favorite celebs, and then shop them before everyone else.

On Chrissy Teigen: Loewe Belted Midi Coat ($3493); Paris Texas Croc-Effect Leather Boots ($825); Saint Laurent Manhattan Calfskin Satchel ($2250)

Skinny jean lovers will be happy to hear that the versatile silhouette is here to stay in 2020. We saw high-waisted styles, in particular, reign supreme on the runways. Take a leaf out of Chrissy Teigen’s book and wear them with knee-high mock-croc boots and a statement long coat.

On Gigi Hadid: Levi’s Ribcage Flare Jeans ($98)

The ’70s flares are back, friends! They were omnipresent on the S/S 2020 runways and have already been spotted on some of our favorite celebs and influencers this season. Wear them with a pair of pointed-toe heeled boots or pumps like Gigi Hadid for a gorgeous leg-lengthening effect.

On Katie Holmes: Khaite Danielle High-Rise Distressed Stovepipe Jeans ($420); Khaite Brianne Oversized Cotton-Poplin Shirt ($680)

While heavily distressed and ripped jeans may have taken a back seat in our wardrobes in 2019, expect to see the style back in full force in 2020. Katie Holmes gives us a lesson on how to make them look sleek and polished by pairing them with a crisp, trend-forward puff-sleeved blouse and chic, black pointed-toe boots.

On Emily Ratajowski: On Emily Ratajowski: Reformation Stevie High Waist Cigarette Jeans ($128); Zara booties

Vintage silhouettes and washes have been trending for some time now, and the spring 2020 runways showed us that there’s no sign of the trend slowing down. Jeans exuded an upcycled, lived-in vibe on the catwalks—like they could have been pulled straight out of a thrift store. Emily Ratajowski belts her vintage pair at the waist with a leopard print belt and keeps the rest of her ensemble smart with a blazer and turtleneck.

On Katie Holmes: Chanel jeans; Chanel tweed jacket; Jimmy Choo Croc Embossed Ivy 85 Heel ($675)

Front seams and ribbing (and pleats, for that matter) were omnipresent on the S/S 20 runways, adding interest and an elongating effect. Pair them with a smart tweed jacket and pointed-toe pumps like Katie Holmes to keep your look chic and polished.
