The Surprising New It Bag I Couldn't Even Get My Hands On

Believe it or not, the fashion world’s latest It bag is a clutch—a damn good one, but still. In fact, recently appointed creative director Daniel Lee’s new handbag shape for Bottega Veneta, known as The Pouch, is so good you can’t scroll through Instagram on any given day without seeing several, if not more, pop up. So good Rosie Huntington-Whiteley owns it in (at least) two colors and has posted eight different outfit photos where she is wearing one on her feed. And lastly, so good, I myself have tried to purchase one on multiple occasions, only to fail—which, as a shopping expert, doesn’t happen often.

Nonetheless, it’s true. First, on a recent trip to Italy (the brand’s birthplace), I must have tried three different stores in hopes of even just seeing what the bag looked like in person, only to be told it’s sold out and garnering quite the waiting list. Since then, I’ve tried purchasing one online several times to find it got away from me repeatedly before I could settle on one of the many color and texture options.

With Rosie’s soft camel version among the hardest to track down, the scarcity has not changed much in recent weeks. Even Net-a-Porter and MyTheresa are completely sold out of the bag at the moment. However, for those with more patience and flexibility than myself, some sites including Bottega Veneta’s own have a handful of options on pre-order, with a few select colors and sizes available to ship now—though I assume not for long.

As our CEO and Co-Founder, Katherine Power recently proclaimed on her Instagram Story, if you loved Old Céline, you’ll love New Bottega. To see the bag in action and shop or sign up for those which are available, just keep scrolling.

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2020, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch 90 Day Fiancé.
