7 Cool Ways Everyone Is Wearing Jeans in Paris
With fashion month upon us, we're primed for a fresh set of street style outfits that will shape how people get dressed throughout 2023 as industry insiders distill the coolest styling ideas from the runways into their looks. We are starting to see showgoers' outfits trickle in for the fall/winter 2023 season, but I've been reflecting on some of the standout looks from the Paris street style scene during the spring/summer 2023 read-to-wear and couture shows.
Some of the best looks of the season always emerge in Paris, and I've specifically been paying close attention to the directional ways we've been seeing denim on editors, stylists, and models outside of the shows. If you're interested in infusing some new inspiration into your denim looks, scroll to see seven blue-jeans outfits that are elevated enough to wear to the runway shows in Paris yet wearable enough to throw on day-to-day.
Maxi Coat + Knit
Maxi coats are one of the buzzy pieces of the season, and we've already received confirmation from industry insiders that they will be breaking them out on the street style scene in the coming weeks. An easy way to pull off the dramatic coat? Simply adding a sleek knit and jeans in a loose or straight-leg cut.
Low-Rise Jeans + Cropped Jacket
Low-rise jeans may have started out as a controversial trend but have since solidified themselves in the fashion space. Opt for a relaxed pair to make them feel current, then take some cues from Paris street style looks and add a cropped jacket.
Denim on Denim
Denim-on-denim looks are hardly new news, but we continue to see them styled in new ways. This look taps into the oversize silhouettes we've been seeing, but the tweed jacket layered underneath the denim jacket makes it feel particularly directional.
Tailored Coat + Slingbacks
It doesn't get more timeless than a tailored midi coat, jeans, and slingback heels. To take the look out of a strictly classic space, add an element of fun with a pair of heels that have a playful detail like rhinestones or a pop of color.
Tweed Jacket + Relaxed Jeans
It comes as no surprise to see tweed on the streets of Paris, but jackets get a youthful spin when paired with a simple white T-shirt, loose jeans, and athletic sneakers.
Hoodie + Chain Belt
Athletic looks are picking up in Paris, as exemplified by a look Eugénie Trochu wore during the spring/summer 2023 Paris couture shows. A hoodie and running sneakers add a casual athleisure element, while the tailored coat and Chanel chain belt make the look feel intentional.
Trench Coat + Statement Bag
Though a trench coat and jeans are a classic outfit formula, the oversize proportions seen here make it feel modern. To add a talking point, top it off with an XXL statement bag, such as the Chanel 22 tote that has been taking over Paris.
