True Story: I Work Out 6 Days a Week in These Leggings
My alarm starts pinging at 6:30 a.m. and I roll out of bed, slide into my leggings, tie my sneakers and I'm out the door. Working out six days a week isn't for everyone, I know. But, for me, squeezing in some form of exercise, whether it be a spin class, yoga, or even a walk around my neighbourhood, helps me find balance in my busy, often desk-bound life. And since I'm constantly testing exercise classes to find my favourite, let's just say I've tested my fair share of workout gear.
Most importantly, with so many sweaty hours under my belt, I've been able to slowly but surely hone in on the best leggings for different activities (some more athleisure than athletic), and now I'm here to let you in on all my secrets.
Below, I'm breaking down seven ways I might wear leggings on any given week and telling you exactly why I chose seven specific styles that stand out. That way, whether shopping or spin is your cardio, you'll have the right gear.
Read on for the leggings I swear by!
Old Navy High-Rise Go-Dry Compression Leggings for Women ($40)
I tend to like to start the week with something high intensity like a boxing or HIIT class. My leggings of choice: a simple high-waisted pair from Old Navy. If the $40 price tag wasn't enough of a selling point, they're comfortable and hug to my body, even when I'm doing burpees.
ALO Yoga Goddess Legging ($126)
Admittedly, I'm not much of a dancer, I can't claim any formal training, but I love to try core-strengthening classes like barre and pilates that often have a ballet bent. These Alo leggings are perfect for these low-impact classes because they keep my legs warm while I take things slow.
Outdoor Voices 3/4 Two-Tone Warmup Legging ($114)
Getting to the end of the week, I'll usually hit the gym for a jog or bit of cardio all over again, but once I've wrapped up my work, I head home and finally have the time to pick up groceries, do a little cleaning etc. before I meet up with friends in the evening. Outdoor Voices' leggings are the perfect hybrid of practical and chic. No matter who I run into while I'm out and about, I know I'll look good.
P.E Nation The Iron Tyson Color-block Stretch Leggings ($161)
Living in NYC, it can be tricky to get out of town, but nothing makes me happier than heading for the hills and taking a hike. When the time comes, I go for leggings made of technical moisture-wicking fabrics, but a more relaxed workout also means I can be more daring with my look.
Lululemon Simply Bare Tight ($129)
On my days off, these Lululemon leggings have become my obsession. They're ultra soft and super lightweight, it's as close to wearing nothing at all as a pair of leggings could probably be.
