Last summer after quite the wild night out, I distinctly recall I was certainly not looking my best, yet during a brief FaceTime call with my friends, I was told I had to be up and moving in just 15 minutes for our lunch plans. I was probably in the worst state they'd ever seen me in, but they were quite surprised when I arrived at brunch just 20 minutes later looking fully put-together. Most people don't know this, but I've accomplished a complete 180 after a rough night or early morning quite a few times. My secret? A good collection of maxi dresses in my closet.

A good dress is what I call a one-step-wonder approach to fashion. You slip it on, and you're out the door in seconds with no fuss. During summer, it's hot in New York, and I want to spend as little time as possible in my apartment fussing over my wardrobe. That's when a good maxi dress comes into play. Since I like to have as many as I possibly can in my closet, I make sure to go on an annual shopping spree that involves adding quite a few to my collection. This means they absolutely can't break the bank. Scroll on for the 30 under-$100 maxi dresses I plan on adding to my collection this summer to give me effortless style for days.

Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way to Who What Wear, where she is an associate editor. When she’s not working, you can catch her always trying to catch a flight, rollerblading through New York City traffic, or exploring the latest luxury vintage boutique.
