Welcome to The Great Try-On. With spring officially in full swing, it's time to ready your wardrobe, and we're here to provide a little shopping inspiration. We got to try on some of the best spring pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our at-home dressing rooms so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for spring wardrobe builders that you'll wear over and over this season and beyond.

Not to pick favorites, but no one really does denim quite like Agolde. The L.A.-based label has earned a cult following for its rigid jeans that are the next best thing to hard-to-source vintage denim in both modern and trendier fits. Its ultra-high-rise Pinch Waist jeans are an editor favorite, while the trendier Criss Cross fit is all over Instagram.

Naturally, being the shopping-obsessed editor and rigid-denim fanatic that I am, I had to test out the jeans for myself. I'm no stranger to Agolde but have only scratched the surface of its selection, so when the opportunity presented itself to test-drive a number of the brand's most popular jeans, denim shorts, and basics, I did not hesitate. From the blue jeans that rival my most beloved vintage pairs to the denim shorts I immediately packed for vacation, continue on to see the results of my try-on haul and to read my reviews of each pair (plus some basics to go along with).

Bea Cutaway Tank + Balloon High-Rise Tapered Jeans

My review: I was shocked by how much I liked these balloon jeans. I usually shy away from anything that will exaggerate the volume of my lower half, but the shape of this pair really blew me away. It's roomy and tapered in all the right places. I ended up going down a size from what I'm wearing in the other fits you're about to see, and it ended up being the perfect barrel-leg yet snug-in-the-waist fit.

This tank also gets a 10/10 from me. It's made from a thick rib material, so it feels extra luxurious, and I adore the sporty feel of the neckline.

My review: Die-hard fans of vintage denim, gather round. I instantly fell in love with the popular Mia jeans and can honestly say that they rival some of my favorite harder-to-find vintage pairs. Details like the mid-rise and light wash make them the ultimate timeless pair to add to your collection—without the effort of hunting down a pair secondhand.

Bea Cutaway Bodysuit + '90s Pinch Waist Jeans

My review: The '90s Pinch Waist jeans fuse two cult-popular Agolde fits—the '90s Loose and the Pinch Waist jeans—to create one ultra-cool hybrid. The pinched-in waist is exactly how it sounds: snug, ultra-high rise, and, in my opinion, very flattering. Combine that with a relaxed-fit leg and some grunge-inspired distressing, and you have the perfect modern take on '90s denim.

Speaking of hybrid pieces, the Bea bodysuit takes the racer neckline of the tank top I tried above and turns it into an asymmetric bodysuit that's about as cool as they come. It's already my new top for going from the office to drinks after.

'90s Mid-Rise Loose Fit Jeans

My review: I've been wearing these jeans the longest out of this bunch (about three years now). To me, they nail the relaxed but straight-leg denim style that's trending especially well right now. They sit right at the hip bones and feature a button fly for a cool slouchy—but not too baggy—feel. Color me obsessed.

Lana Mid-Rise Straight Jeans

My review: The Lana jeans checked off many boxes for being classic, versatile, and anti-trend. They feature a mid-rise, straight-leg fit and a full-length hem, making them a staple I could see myself reaching for over and over, especially since the dark-charcoal wash could easily be dressed up or down.

Parker Long Shorts

My review: I'll start off by saying that I'm very picky when it comes to denim shorts. But not only did this pair end up really impressing me when I tried them on, but also I loved them so much that I packed them for an upcoming beach trip. They're perfectly relaxed with an easy-to-wear length.
