My Mom Is 54 and Has Better Hair Than I Do—Here Are the Products She Uses

Everyone who’s ever met her agrees—my mom has the best hair on the planet. Her hair is thick and healthy and grows extremely quickly. Did I mention she’s in her 50s and has been highlighting her hair for over 30 years?

Whenever I’m home, I always raid her beauty cabinets for her hair products. Even though she’ll never admit it, she always has some insanely cool, insanely effective product that I, a beauty editor, have never even heard of.

I’ve been trying to grow out my hair for months, so I finally asked her if she’d give me a full rundown on everything she puts in her hair. The best thing about my mom’s haircare routine is that it’s simple and won’t break the bank, but it works. She’s a middle school teacher, so the time she has in the morning to do her hair is minimal, and over the years, she’s been able to streamline her routine into something that works for her.
