Sorry to Disappoint, But This Is What Actually Happens at Fashion Week
Editor of Cool Pretty Cool and fashion influencer Chloe Hill is on the ground at New York Fashion Week, so we've asked her to reveal what actually goes on behind the scenes. Below, she shares how different her role is to all the designers, buyers, and celebrities who flock to the city for inspiration.

Fashion week is a seemingly glamorous affair. From the outside it's all cute outfits, sparkling parties, and blow outs. Yeah, that's probably the reality for the shiny celebrities who sit front row, but not for me. Most of my days are spent behind my camera or in front of my laptop, juggling shows and shoots; all the while trying to look effortlessly stylish (despite the three cameras, laptop, and a change of shoes I have stashed in my bag). Not that I'm complaining, I know how #blessed I am to be here.
Besides, this is my third time at NYFW so I'm finally getting into the groove of things. I'm real about how sweaty I'll be by 10am when it's 30 degrees out. I know not to book back to back appointments when one is on the Upper East Side and the other is in Tribeca. I understand how much iced coffee is too much (in case you're wondering, exceed two and I'm a jittery mess). I also know not to trust Uber when it says it'll take 10 minutes to get from The Standard Hotel to the Coach show when there are road works on 10th Avenue. (Please don't Google the street style shots taken after I ran the final five blocks last year.)
On the plus side, I get a first look at so many amazing designs. Shooting at fittings and backstage means I get up-close with collections before most other media. The summer season also means my Sydney friends come to town (hi, Talisa and Yan)! On top of all that I also get to say hello to some of my favourite designers like Chris Esber, Dion Lee, and Nicky and Simon Zimmermann. Lucky, right?
So when you're scrolling Instagram this week and you see my skin *glowing* and my sneakers on you'll understand I'm not keeping up with any trends, I'm just running late for my next show.
