Breaking: Peter Copping Is Leaving Oscar de la Renta

Erin Fitzpatrick

Following the recent trend of designer shakeups, Oscar de la Renta has announced that Peter Copping is leaving the house. Copping has served as creative director for less than two years, after being personally picked by de la Renta himself to succeed him after his death in October 2014.

"After almost two years at Oscar de la Renta, personal circumstances require me to return to Europe,” Copping said in a statement obtained by Vogue. "I have loved my time in New York, where I hope to return at some point in the future." No word yet on who will replace him, but stay tuned for updates.

Oscar de la Renta's CEO, Alex Bolen, also made a statement: "We have always been in the business of creating beautiful clothes, and two of our greatest assets are our design studio and atelier. Our team will continue to work on next season’s collection with a keen focus on the level of sophistication and craftsmanship that are the hallmarks of the house. We wish Peter well in his future endeavours."
