The Only Shoe Style That Matters This Year

If we had to coin 2016 as a whole with some sort of fashion phrase, we'd undoubtedly call it "the year of mules." Ever since we first spotted this chunky, open-toe silhouette at the Mansur Gavriel presentation during fashion week, we knew we'd see the style crop up everywhere. And guess what? It has.

Brands recently started rolling out their own versions of mules—making our staff particularly excited. "I tend to gravitate toward mules because they're a little unexpected and a bit cooler than your typical flats or pumps," our editor Allyson Payer noted. "There's an effortless quality to them that I think really elevates an outfit. It's an added bonus that I haven't met mules that aren't comfortable, since there isn't a back to rub at your ankles, and many styles feature a sturdy block heel." We couldn't agree more.

Are you feeling this style too? Keep scrolling to check out our absolute favourite iterations of this must-have shoe silhouette. And get ready—we have a feeling even more styles will hit shelves in the coming weeks.
