How To Care For Your Bathing Suits
How many times has this happened to you? You invest in the perfect bathing suit, only to find it stretched out and faded after a few short months. Good news: these problems are totally preventable! By following these simple washing, drying, and storage tips, your suits are sure to live a long and stylish life under the sun.
Rinse Before and After Every Use
DO: rinse your suit immediately after wearing to help reduce the effect of chemicals, like chlorine, sunscreen, and sand, which can harm the elasticity of the fabric. Taking a shower before heading to the pool or beach is a bonus, as this will remove substances, such as perfume, perspiration, and lotion, that can cause deterioration.
DON’T: sunbath after swimming, as the combination of the sun and chemicals can accelerate the deterioration process.
DO: place the suit in a protective mesh bag to minimise damage or the possibility of stretching or twisting. Wash on a delicate, cold cycle with other delicates to prevent the suit from over agitation. A suit should only be washed in a machine after four to five weeks.
DON’T: put suits with embellishments into the washer.
