Does Gigi Hadid's First U.S. Vogue Cover Make Her a Supermodel?

There's been much debate recently over whether or not Instafamous It girls Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner can be considered supermodels. But Hadid's latest career milestone just might solidify her supermodel status.

While not her first Vogue cover (she has at least 10 under her belt, including the covers of the Italy, Brazil, Paris, and Germany editions), it is her first for the highly-coveted U.S. edition. And it couldn't be more all-American, just like the supermodel herself. The cover for the glossy's August issue, shot by Mario Testino, features a sporty Hadid with Olympic decathlete Ashton Eaton.

Hadid posted to Instagram this morning to express her gratitude to all those involved (including Anna Wintour, naturally), and the coaches throughout her life, being a self-professed athlete. She was a competitive horseback rider and club volleyball player in her teenage years, even qualifying for the Junior Olympics, and she now channels her athletic skills via boxing.

Hadid expertly posed in the season's best athleisure-inspired looks for the magazine's spread, including a form-fitting Versace dress for the cover. At just 21 years old, Hadid has walked countless runways, covered countless magazines, fronted countless campaigns, walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, designed a capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger, hosted Canada's Much Music Awards, was named Daily Front Row's "Model of the Year", and starred in seven music videos. If all of that plus her latest Vogue cover doesn't add up to supermodel status, we're not sure what does.
