The Shoe Every Fashion Editor Loathes Is Back
Love them or hate them, flip-flops (or thongs), are on the verge of a comeback. The fashion week runways across the globe proved that the toe-baring thong sandal you owned in the 2000s is about to become the next big shoe trend. Fashion editors agree that the casual flip-flop is an acceptable choice for the beach or pool, but when it comes to everyday footwear, feelings are mixed—until now.
From the black leather ankle styles at Alexander Wang runway to the athletic platforms at Versace, the flip-flop debate seems to be settled, at least for summer. Designers are known for reviving the styles of decades past, so this new-but-old-trend is no exception, but will it catch on? We'll have to wait until the A/W 2017 shows to see which editors and style influencers dare to wear the barely there flip flops in freezing temperatures, all in the name of fashion.
Check out the many appearances the flip-flop made on the S/S 17 runways.
