Would You Spend $400 on Yoga Pants?

Bobby Schuessler

It's no secret that there's been a rise in athletic gear and workout clothing as everyday wear as of late (cue Lululemon). Sure, you've heard of fitness enthusiasts dropping anywhere between $80 and $200 on premium yoga pants, but more than that? Yikes. As Business of Fashion researched, given that activewear sales are up 9% this year, there's an entirely new market for gymgoers looking to drop upward of $400 on workout leggings as luxury fitness brands like Charli Cohen, Lucas Hugh, and Callens (where a pair of leggings will cost you $500) keep cropping up. “Some of the newer brands that are emerging are going to give activewear a whole level of status we haven’t seen in this business before,” said Roseanne Morrison, fashion director at trend intelligence firm The Doneger Group.

But what do you think? Is it crazy to spend that much on your athletic gear, regardless of the high-end technical fabrics? Would you drop that much cash on workout clothing if you could? We want to know. Sound off in the comment section below! And if you're looking to purchase some higher-end clothing, shop Net-a-Sporter now
