After 6 Golden Globes Red Carpets, Evan Rachel Wood Ditched Dresses. Here's Why
For anyone who’s been closely following any type of news over the last year—fashion, Hollywood, politics, or otherwise—you might have noticed that pantsuits are one trend that has sparked tons of conversation. And at the 74th Golden Globe Awards, Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood continued to make a statement with the tailored look.
When asked about her ensemble by E!’s Ryan Seacrest, Wood pointed out that her custom Altuzarra suit was selected for a very specific reason. “I’m not trying to protest dresses, but I want to make sure that young girls and women know that they aren’t a requirement, and that you don’t have to wear one if you don’t want to.”
Wood, who also stated that it’s her sixth time attending the Golden Globes and that she’s worn a dress every time before, delivered a message to “be yourself because your worth is more than that." Furthermore, she cited Marlene Dietrich, Victor Victoria, and David Bowie—"because it’s his birthday”— as her inspiration.
