True Story: Kym Ellery Has Had an Impact on Every Australian Wardrobe
It's hard to believe Ellery has only been around for 10 years. Australian designer Kym Ellery launched her eponymous label in 2007 while working at Russh Magazine, and has since earned a global following of fans—especially within the fashion industry. Ellery is only the third Australian label in a century to be granted official recognition on the Paris Fashion Week schedule, an achievement that catapults her label further into the global stage.
When we think about fashion trends, Ellery has been at the forefront of many before they hit the mainstream. She has an eye for shape, design, and structure—what women want to wear, and what women actually like wearing.
In recent years, Ellery has introduced us to mermaid pants, oversized flared sleeves, and the coolest cat-eye frames we’ve ever seen—we’ve lost count of how many street style stars and celebrities we’ve seen in her now-signature pieces.
If you think about the pieces you've bought and added to your wardrobe over the past few years, chances are Ellery's designs have influenced at least one (that is, if you don't already have a piece of her magic hanging in your wardrobe).
Ten years in business isn't the only milestone Ellery is celebrating this year. From now until mid-August, the luxury Australian label has opened a pop-up boutique within Westfield Sydney, giving us a whole new reason to take a dedicated hour-long lunch break. We're looking back at some of our favourite Ellery street style moments to inspire our next shopping trip. Keep scrolling.
